Capitola Portrait Photograhy | Andres and Paige

Andres contacting me about a photoshoot for him and Paige for her birthday, and we planned on a beautiful Santa Cruz beach shoot. Of course the weather is unpredictable, especially by the coast, and a very heavy fog rolled in on us right before the shoot time. We were already at the beach but I suggested we try another spot and we headed to Capitola instead. Wondering what happens on a Santa Cruz beach photo session when the weather doesn’t cooperate? We adapt to the new situation and come up with something different!  In our case we didn’t have any luck in Capitola either, the weather was foggy there as well - but I said hey I have an idea, let’s go down by the pier and use the structures to give our photos some character since we aren’t getting any sunlight. From there we ended up getting some really fun shots, dramatic shots, and even dreamy shots with the little water next to Capitola Village. Sometimes the foggy weather is even better because you get these dreamy, dramatic photos with even lighting and can face in directions that you normally wouldn’t face due to the direction of the sunlight.

Taking amazing Capitola portraits is a wonderful way to spend an hour or two.
