What a beautiful family! I was lucky to get the chance to capture some magical photos in a quick family beach portrait session in Santa Cruz. I recommended Davenport because it’s absolutely stunning with lots of beautiful scenery to work with, from cliffside to beach. Family portraits in Santa Cruz are often requested at popular beaches but the truth is these beaches are crowded and dirty, and the only scenery many of them offer is just the ocean in the background (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). Davenport to me is one of the great gems of Santa Cruz county, many beaches will be sparsely populated, rugged coastline full of beautiful landscapes, and usually pristine and natural with a mix of some sort of magic in the air that’s hard to explain. We only had an hour to do these portraits and some kids that really wanted nothing to do with photos, so I had my work cut out for me! I sent them a google map screenshot of where to meet and we were off as I lead them along a scenic cliffside path down to the beach, grabbing magical photos both candid and posed as we went.
