When Robert came to me for surprise proposal photos in Big Sur, I had some recommendations all ready to go! We talked about it and planned on this beautiful spot at Garrapata Beach, up high on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The spot was perfect and at the time of day we planned on the lighting would be perfect too. I was going to pretend to be a photographer taking photos of the landscape, and as he and his soon to be fiance walked past he would ask me to snap a selfie for them - then I would pose them for it and be right in position for the perfect shots! My idea worked great except for one small flaw - on the day of the proposal I got there early to find that the part of the cliff we had elaborately planned around had fallen down during some rain and was no longer there! The whole section was blocked off!  Not to worry, I waited nearby and when I was sure he had seen me I wandered just ahead of them and stopped at my next favorite place, up above the Calle Lily Valley. He followed and before long we had our plan in motion at the new spot and all went just right. Oh and she said yes!
